Barazō Mankanshoku (満艦 (まんかん) (しょく) 薔薇 (ばら) (ぞう) Mankanshoku Barazō?) is a doctor that runs a back-alley clinic in Hannō City's slums, the husband of Sukuyo Mankanshoku and the father of Mako Mankanshoku and Matarō Mankanshoku.

Appearance[]

Barazō is a tall, overweight man with a rather slick-back brown hair, brown eyes and thick eyebrows that appear to be shaped like sushi.

Generally, he is seen wearing a tan jacket with a white shirt and a black tie along with a pair of salmon color shorts with blue stripes and a pair of white slippers.

Personality[]

Barazō is a very loose, cheerful and slightly perverted man. Being a back-ally doctor, he jokingly states that he killed more people than he saved and does not worry about it. He loves to eat large portions of food; talking with a mouth-full of it during dinner conversations.

History[]

Barazō is the patriarch of the Mankanshoku Family who works as a back-alley doctor, although it is claimed that he has killed more patients than he had tried to save.

Relationships[]

Sukuyo Mankanshoku[]

Sukuyo is Barazō's wife.

Mako Mankanshoku[]

Mako is Barazō's daughter.

Matarō Mankanshoku[]

Matarō is Barazō's son.

Memorable quotes[]

I've got two questions. Are the girls still alive?... Question two! Is the festival gonna be catered?
—In response to Ira Gamagōri's demand that the Mankanshoku family atone for Ryūko Matoi and Mako Mankanshoku's traitorous behavior.

Trivia[]

Name Origin[]

  • The name Barazō means "rose" (薔薇) (bara) and "warehouse, storehouse, hide, own, have, possess" (蔵) ().
  • Barazō's surname Mankanshoku means "full, fullness, enough, satisfy" (満) (man), "ship, warship" (飾) (kan) and "decorate, ornament, adorn, embellish" (飾) (shoku), which literally means "full ship decoration" altogether.
